Critical UI Improvement Request: Message Input Behavior Should Match Industry Standards

I'm writing to request an urgent improvement to Venice.ai's web app chat interface that's causing significant user frustration and productivity loss. The current implementation where pressing Enter sends a message (requiring Shift+Enter for new lines) is counterintuitive and error-prone.

I have lost count of how many times I have accidentally sent an incomplete submission because “I forgot” to hold the shift key down when hitting ENTER attempting to create a new paragraph.  I’ve had to resort to writing my submissions in a separate application. It shouldn’t be this way.

Problem:

• Users constantly accidentally submit incomplete messages due to muscle memory from decades of text editing conventions

• This creates "typing trauma" as users must consciously override natural typing habits

• It violates standard text composition patterns established across word processors, email clients, and professional writing environments

Solution Proposal: Implement the industry-standard pattern used by Signal, Slack (desktop), and professional writing tools:

1. Default Enter key behavior should create new line (standard text composition)

2. Include a prominent visual indicator (like Signal Desktop up arrow icon) that toggles to "send mode"

3. Alternatively, implement a subtle but clear visual cue (like Telegram's send button color change) when Enter would send

Benefits:

• Eliminates accidental message submissions

• Reduces user frustration and cognitive load

• Aligns with professional writing workflows

• Matches user expectations from other productivity tools

• Would be a significant differentiator from competitors using the inferior model

This isn't just a preference - it's a fundamental usability issue affecting all text composition. The current implementation forces users to work against their natural typing instincts, creating unnecessary friction in what should be a seamless AI interaction experience.
