Download and import chat history backup

An option to download the chat history backup locally, and to import such a backup file. Backups stored on Venice servers can only be restored to the same account, this should allow importing to a different account.

There are several reasons:

  1. To preserve chat history when merging separate accounts (e.g. email + web3 account).

  2. For people who don’t want to have their backup stored on Venice servers (despite the encryption).

    So now this is done. It’s been delivered. Maybe that’s why it was on backlog? 

    Or maybe it needed the pressure. I don’t know.

    But in case someone pass here, the feature is live!

    This would be very helpful. It's very annoying when I needed to use my phone, and back to my PC, I’d need to catch the AI up.

    Why is this on Backlog, indeed.
    A way to preserve data is vital for the users’ personnal investment and character contributions not to be punished, even as Pro.

    Being able to download the encrypted version and upload it would help a lot.
    We don’t need it to be saved on Venice servers it’s against the purpose.
    We can make a backup in Pro but we can’t downlaod that backup,
    and it goes to Venice servers - no alternative..

    However, even the backup doesn’t save our memory notes and files. 
    Please also save:
    - users’ memory notes, prompts, system prompt, and parameters.
    - user’s character memory notes.

    Are punblished characters are saved forever or disapear if the owner’s data is wipped (some of my browsers keep wipping the data too). 
    This is actually really silly, and it’s the only reason I can’t manage to get anyone around of me to take me seriously when I recommend Venice.

    THERE IS NO REASON FOR THIS TO BE ON BACKLOG. YOU JUST KILLED 85 KIDS TODAY THAT NOW WILL NEVER BE SAVED OF NEARLY 18,000 CASUALTIES CUZ OF LOST DATA. THIS IS VIOLATION OF GDPR AND EVERY DATA PROTOCOL THERE IS.

    Yea, I don’t know why Venice doesn’t just save the chat history like ChatGPT for each registered account, with the ability to download chat history that have all of your chats, images, and such. Seems like the ability to save chat only on a single browser is kind of a hassle. If I really don’t want a chat to be saved, I would just use the Temporary Chat.

    I second this request.

    I had a go at creating a Python script to backup the IndexedDB database and associated files, however when restoring the only things I could get back were any Folders I had created, but no chats.

    I also tried to save cookies and restore them, and I am guessing there is some encryption happening to the chats in the database and the encryption key is changing upon a new login and cookies are deleted when a session ends.

    I have tested the Pro feature to save “chunked” backups onto the Venice infrastructure, but would love to see Venice open source this feature and/or offer scripts that allow local encrypted backups that can be restored on the same system, or another system with the same web browser.

    There needs to be a free tier of this somehow otherwise free users would have no way to download and import chat histories after they cleared the browser.

      That functionality exists and is currently in beta. But it does not solve my issue.
