Download generated documents from chat
Hi Venice Team,
I'm a regular user evaluating Venice for my business workflow, and I've hit a significant friction point that may affect other non-technical users.
The Use Case
I need to generate formatted documents (menus, price lists, etc.) from AI conversations. The HTML sandbox is great for creating visual layouts, but getting those documents out is unnecessarily difficult.
The Problems
1. No Direct Download: The sandboxed iframe blocks blob downloads and file generation, which is understandable for security, but means there's no "Export as PDF/HTML" button.
2. Print Scope Issues: When using Ctrl+P or a print button within the sandbox, it often tries to print the entire chat interface instead of just the iframe content. The workaround (right-click → Print on the iframe) isn't discoverable for most users.
3. API Barrier: The alternative—using the API—requires coding knowledge that's unreasonable for users who just want to save a document.
Current Workaround
I'm using "Print to PDF" with manual steps, or copy-pasting into external tools. This works but breaks workflow fluidity.
Suggested Solutions
- Add a native "Export Sandbox as PDF" button that bypasses the iframe restriction at the platform level
- Provide a downloadable HTML file option for sandbox content
- Better print isolation so Ctrl+P within a sandbox only prints that content
This single feature would eliminate a major reason I currently need other tools in my stack.
