Currently, image generation on Venice is a separate workflow. For character-driven applications - games, interactive fiction, persistent companions - this creates friction. The user must leave the conversation, generate an image separately, and return.
What I am requesting is the ability to assign an image generation model directly to a character, with configurable trigger options so that images generate inline without leaving the conversation.
The configuration options would work like this:
Automatic - the character generates an image whenever the scene warrants it, based on the system prompt's judgment.
Fixed interval - an image generates every N responses. The creator sets the number. Every response, every third response, every fifth - configurable.
Triggered - the system prompt fires an image at a specific defined moment, such as a scene capture command, a character reveal, or a dramatic beat.
On demand - the user requests an image and the character generates it inline.
All four modes would use the assigned image model and deliver the result directly in the conversation without interruption.
The current workaround is to instruct the character to generate an image prompt in text and provide a link to the Venice image generator. This breaks immersion, requires the user to leave the conversation, copy the prompt, and return. It also relies on the language model producing a usable image prompt consistently, which it does not always do. It is a workaround, not a solution, and users encountering it for the first time have no idea what they are looking at.
The use cases are significant:
RPG and interactive fiction characters that capture scenes at dramatic moments or at a regular narrative cadence.
Companion characters that generate a visual when something meaningful happens or simply with every response.
Any character where showing and telling simultaneously improves the experience.
Venice already has the image models. The gap is connecting them to the character layer with flexible trigger configuration. This would make Venice the strongest platform available for visually rich, character-driven interactive experiences.
