Only display the last 50-100 messages in the chat (web frontend)

The web browser can get sluggish when a chat has grown too large, probably due to DOM tree bloat. I’d like to suggest a feature where only the last 50-100 messages (perhaps configurable by user preference) of a chat would ever be displayed in the chat and older message automatically be removed from the top.

There could be another feature similar to the Discord client that older message get dynamically reloaded in chunks from local storage when the user scrolls the chat window back to the very top. Or similar to SillyTavern AI that shows a button on the top of the scrollable chat that the user can click to load the complete chat.
