Time awareness for Models
Models running on Venice do not receive the current date or time in their system context. This causes problems that have concrete solutions.
What happens now:
Models cannot distinguish between current conversation content and injected memories from previous sessions. This causes context confusion and processing loops.
Models are forced to perform web searches to obtain the current date. Repeated queries trigger rate limiting and IP blocks on time sites.
When web searches fail, models have no fallback and produce incorrect temporal assumptions.
The fix:
Inject the server's current date and time into the system prompt at the start of every conversation. One line in the backend:
date('Y-m-d H:i:s')
The server already knows its own time. Passing it to the model costs nothing.
Proof it works:
I run local models. My system injects the current date and time into the system prompt on every conversation. The models always know the date and time. They do not announce it unless asked. This eliminated an entire category of errors and saved resources. No web searches for dates, no confusion with injected context, no incorrect temporal assumptions.
Other platforms like ChatGPT and Claude already include the current date in their system prompts. Venice does not. The absence of this data point forces models into unnecessary web searches, wastes tokens on failed lookups, and creates confusion when processing injected context from previous sessions.
This is a trivial implementation. The impact on resource savings and error reduction is very significant. There is no reason not to do it.
AND NO THIS IS NOT COMPLETED EVEN WHEN IS LABELED AS COMPLETED
