The problem: Currently, system prompts are toggled in submenus and apply permanently to conversations. This makes it impractical to switch behaviors mid-chat or reuse specific instruction sets across different conversations.
Proposed solution: A Skills feature where users can save modular instruction sets and call them up on demand.
How it could work:
In Settings (similar to where Memories are configured), users could add Skills either by uploading a .md file or by pasting text directly
Each Skill would have a name that can be invoked via slash command like /summarize or simply by asking "summarize this conversation"
When called, the skill's instructions would temporarily guide the agent's response without replacing the base system prompt
This would work nicely in both Agentic and Legacy chat modes
Some example skills users might create: grill-me, caveman, spec-planner, research-mode, code-reviewer
A thought on defaults: If this gets built, having a few commonly useful skills available by default like planning, research, or compact could help users discover the feature. Just an idea.
Why this would be helpful: It keeps the main conversation clean while letting users pull in specialized behaviors exactly when needed, without navigating submenus.
