Projects with files for context

Ability to create projects with context files, like Claude projects. Currently we can abuse characters for this, but projects with option to save (multiple) files for context would be great for coding, for example.

This. The main reason Sonnet is my go to AI at present is that I work with relatively long files, and I put all of them in a project, with a long custom prompt, and projects allows me to use less tokens on Claude, as when I ask a question, it does not have to load all the context again.

It also makes things very organised. It would be great to be able to sync this to a local file/folder so it can be used across different systems.

Would love for this to be implemented. Coming from Claude, I miss the project contexts

I would really like this feature. At present I am still using Claude mostly for this reason. Projects make organising work very easy.

It would be cool if you could pin a response or request so that it becomes part of the chat sessions knowledge files for the chat. Or easily accessible to feed back into the context window.

I also agree that the ability to add say some code or other information to the chat that is indexed would be extremely helpful. I've not tried the characters feature for this yet but aim to do that this week.

I don't work with massive files but usually the biggest constraint I've found with genai across the board is maintaining context.

Some platforms have recently got to a level where its significantly improved but solving that problem will be the winner.

Do these context files for characters work the same way as system prompts? I know you can have multiple of those.

From my current understanding, one big limitation with the system prompts currently is that they can be forgotten due to context windows moving along with tokens being added. There’s some mechanism to remind llama 3.1 405b for example of the system prompt at some point, you’ll see it suddenly reference the system prompt a few times in it’s latest response, whereas it had forgotten for numerous responses earlier.

Either way if these context files are implemented I’m guessing there should be a way for the bot to retain understanding of the context provided.

I don´t know, haven’t experimented enough with it.

AlexSideBar is a good example of what this enable, especially via API. With live codebase indexing this unlocks the ability to build voice agents that act as a more seamless pair programmer. An AI pair programmer that can alternate between occupying the coding seat role while guided by the user and also the commentator/observer role while the user is coding and verbally rubber duck debugging.

Would be a great feature for law, accounting, and business planning as well. Opening up massive contexts enables higher level hours-saving functionality.

It would also be nice if you could sort and adjust the folders you can create on the left side-bar. Like, I should be able to click on one folder icon and drag-n-drop it into another folder for sorting or have it where one could click and hold the icon and drag the folder somewhere else in the order.

This would be incredibly helpful. Right now, I am forced to kludge together a solution by constantly uploading the same reference files again and again.

It would be great if venice.ai could use files which are always in use. Same feature as ChaptGPT have with project files.
